Overview of Streatham

Streatham is being tipped as the hot new place to live in South London, with steady regeneration and rental prices that are more affordable than those in neighbouring Balham or Clapham.

Streatham is a multicultural, residential area in the Borough of Lambeth, with lots of large Victorian houses, some of which have been divided into flats. As well as the usual high street names on Streatham High Street, there is a growing number of bars, restaurants and cafes opening up as the district grows in popularity. There are also two cinemas, an ice rink and a nightclub, and Streatham is very close to the vibrant nightlife of Brixton.

Area Guide to Streatham Hill

Streatham Hill shares the same up and coming vibe as Streatham, with signs of first time buyers and young professionals snapping up property. Streatham Hill is a hugely residential part of South West London, with a massive amount of flats and houses on Leigham Court Road, the area's longest road. Streatham Hill also benefits from the A23, the main road to Brighton, running right through it, making it an easy location for Summer seaside getaways.

Streatham Common Area Guide

Streatham Common is probably the more exclusive part of Streatham, because aside from the benefits of Streatham's regeneration, there are the advantages of the Common and the Rookery. Streatham Common is a vast expanse of green space, with the Rookery at it's centre. The Rookery is a beautiful Victorian garden complete with fountains and wells, which is guaranteed to make you forget that you are in the middle of the UK's capital city. The Rookery also hosts open-air theatre, including Shakespearean plays during the summer months. The residential streets leading into the Rookery at Streatham Common also have a village feel to them, not unlike parts of Hampstead.
